Bio for Rich Mason
Back in the early 50s I had the opportunity to study art in a two year program to prepare students for a career in fine and industrial arts. I've been involved in some sort of art since. I served in the U. S. Navy for 8 years then worked for five making signs for Sears Roebuck. I spent some time repairing business machines prior to the computer changing life as we knew it.. Most of my career I worked for a large corporation while simultaneously running a ceramics studio with my wife. We did this for 20 years. I hold an instructors certification with Duncan Ceramics. Eventually I retired and spent some time in Maine. The beautiful scenery and wildlife stimulated my interest in painting again. After we moved back to NJ I continued painting and have been doing that since. I used acrylic's with ceramics and stuck with them for making Fine Art. I've continuously studied, taking advantage of the many books available to improve my craft. Most of my work is based in reality. I'm influenced by the impressionists and post impressionists. I have studied the work and writing of Stephen Quiller, Mike Svob and Robert Genn. Marion Body Evans a world known artist has influenced my work greatly. I'm also a member of the About.com art forum and an art forum run by Skye Taylor. Well know for his abstract paintings.
I've been associated with the Freehold Art Society, the Belmar Art Council and am a member of the Art Alliance of Monmouth County. I've exhibited in the Tuckerton NJ Seaport Museum and the St. Francis art show and sale on Long Beach Island. I exhibit in the NJ Seniors Art Show yearly. My work is in private collections from Maine to Florida and also in Italy .I have taken 1st place in the 2014 Veterans Administration Art Show in NJ and .
